Abstract

Current education needs to respond to the demands of the new social dynamics, which is predisposed to an excessive load of information and emotion from various sources. That is why it is necessary to encourage mathematical logical thinking in students for the construction and reconstruction of their knowledge, so that they can acquire the skills for their good performance. In this sense, nowadays abstract thinking is considered as the ability to observe specific situations in order to decompose and fragment them. In this way, generating new knowledge, effectively boosting mental abilities. The purpose of the present study was to propose a program based on mental skills for the improvement of abstract reasoning in seventh grade elementary school students of the Escuela Fiscal República Argentina. For this purpose, a methodology based on the quantitative approach was used, being a feasible project with a descriptive level. The sample consisted of 40 seventh grade elementary school students of the Escuela Fiscal República Argentina. The data collection technique was the survey and its instrument was the questionnaire. In conclusion, it is recommended that the directors of the fiscal institution implement the program proposed in this research, since it is based on an organized structure, according to activities that improve the deficiencies evidenced in the abstract reasoning of the students.
