Risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus in the population of milagro belonging to the parish of chobo

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is one of the NCDs with the highest mortality burden in the world, this condition occurs because the pancreas does not produce insulin, altering the blood glucose levels. Objective: Identify risk factors for diabetes type 2 mellitus in the population of Milagro belonging to the parish of Chobo. Materials and Methods: Non-experimental study, descriptive cross-sectional level and quantitative approach, with a sample of 325 adults of both sexes, was designed for a 95% confidence level; acceptable error of 5% and probability of occurrence 50% q =0.5. Results: The data with the most significant risk factor is the habit food 49%; by consuming a diet rich in carbohydrates; 80% of the population is inactive; the prevalence of DM is 45%; the hereditary factor 51%. Conclusions: The Regime carbohydrate-based diet and exercise is not a common practice in this population, predisposing in the future to increase type 2 diabetes mellitus, in turn the complications related to the disease and the generation of economic expenses individual, family and health system.
