This study aimed to design and implement an inventory control system adapted to microenterprises in the commercial sector and nonprofit organizations, using the FUNECI Foundation in Guayaquil, Ecuador, as a case study. Through a mixed methodology that combined structured interviews with accounting professionals and surveys administered to entrepreneurs, the main limitations in inventory management were identified, such as the dispersion of manual records, lack of traceability, and insufficient staff training. Subsequently, an inventory control system based on the Kardex tool supported by spreadsheets was developed and implemented, accompanied by staff training processes. The results showed a 30% reduction in recording errors, a 30% increase in operational efficiency, and a 74% improvement in staff knowledge levels. These findings confirm that the application of accessible technological solutions and continuous training strengthen operational sustainability even in institutions with limited resources. It is concluded that the proposed model can be replicated in other similar organizations, contributing to the design of more efficient and sustainable inventory management strategies in the field of microenterprises and nonprofit entities.
