Learning Styles and Anxiety in Students of a Secondary-Level Educational Institution – Peru

Abstract

A study was carried out with the aim of identifying learning styles and anxiety in high school students. The study was based on a non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and comparative design, with a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 713 students of an educational institution at the secondary level, of both sexes from the first to the fifth grade of secondary school between the age ranges of 13 to 18 years.  The sample was a census sample, made up of students from first to fifth grade of high school of both sexes, using the Honey - Alonso (CHAEA) questionnaire of learning styles and the Zung Anxiety Scale. The results show that the majority of students had a reflective learning style (42.8%), likewise, it was found that most of the students did not present anxiety, however there is a proportion of (18.9%) of students with moderate anxiety. In conclusion, the predominant learning style was reflective and in terms of anxiety the students presented a moderate level.
