In recent years, the feedback process has acquired great importance for monitoring students' progress and difficulties in achieving their competencies. However, there is scarce information on the characterization of the research that has addressed this topic. The present topographic review has been proposed to analyze the articles focused on the feedback process with empirical basis, published in indexed journals between the years 2017 to 2021. For this purpose, the PRISMA method has been used. The results reveal that 47 articles have been published by a total of 70 authors, of which the predominant ones are women. Most of the studies carried out were quantitative, with a non-experimental design and non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The focus of research has been students, firstly, and then teachers, mainly in universities and, to a lesser extent, in schools. Publications have been predominantly in journals indexed in Scopus and SciElo.
