Abstract

This article aims to analyze the use of ICTs and the teaching of statistics in the field of higher education, taking as references students of the nursing career in a public higher education institution. By integrating these technologies into curricula, educators can enhance learning, increase understanding of statistical concepts, and prepare future nurses to use data and evidence in their clinical practice more efficiently and effectively. This is significant, since the importance of statistical skills and abilities to strengthen the student's response capacity is well known. It was constituted in a field investigation, based on an ex post facto quantitative design of transversal and descriptive typology; with a population of 565 students and a sample of 384. A Likert format questionnaire was applied, validated by expert judgment and Cronbach's Alpha. The results report situations to improve in terms of student attitude towards statistics, knowledge and applicability of this science and the use of ICTs in their teaching. The implementation of the incorporation of didactic strategies that strengthen the teaching of statistics through ICTs is recommended, which can be a significant tool to improve the understanding of statistical concepts and facilitate the acquisition of skills in this field.
