The objective of the research was to propose a methodological strategy to improve the process of continuity of studies towards university careers in high school graduates in rural areas. The methodology used was based on a descriptive and explanatory approach, through the application of surveys and interviews with 62 students, 10 teachers and 8 parents. The results obtained indicated that the use of a methodological strategy during vocational guidance is of vital importance, if we start from the idea that the direction of the pedagogical process is a fundamental path for the development of the students' interests in conjunction with the family and for the decision process that ensures the continuity of studies. The proposal was evaluated by experts positively in terms of relevance, feasibility and feasibility. As a product of the research work, a methodological strategy was provided considering the educational community and identified socio-educational factors to be taken into account to develop interest in continuing studies towards university careers in students from rural areas.
