The integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has profoundly transformed our society, impacting the way we relate, work and learn, especially in the educational field. This study examines the relationship between Digital Competencies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy in 59 university students, using a quantitative approach and a correlational design. Five key digital competence areas and their significant influence on AI literacy were assessed, revealing that mastery of these competences directly contributes to a deeper understanding of AI. The results highlight that competencies such as digital content creation, security management, and problem-solving have a considerable impact, explaining up to 200% of the variability. In conclusion, the development of digital skills is essential for effective AI literacy, although the latter requires specific training to understand its deeper implications in an increasingly digitized world.
