Agricultural activity in the state of Bolívar: Production, Vocation and Potential before the Orinoco Mining Arc

Abstract

The Bolívar state in southern Venezuela has potential for agricultural, livestock, forestry and fishing production with important contributions to the country's production, in addition to the well-known contribution of tourism and mining. The objective is to analyze agricultural activity based on agricultural production, the vocation and use of land, and the potential for production of items related to territorial areas in the state of Bolívar, Venezuela. The research has a non-experimental design, with a descriptive scope and an interpretative focus on documentary information. Based on a brief historical overview of agro-productive activity, the vocation of some spaces for agricultural production is described according to the Territorial Planning Plan of the state of Bolívar, the volume of agricultural production in the last two decades, the productive potential of some items. agroproductive and, culminates with the approximation of three references on agricultural production by sector and territorial spaces. As part of the findings, the state of Bolívar has a vocation of land for agricultural activity of approximately three million hectares of traditional crops and bovine livestock with important contributions to the country's agricultural production. It is necessary to generate updated and reliable information from the formation of the Orinoco Mining Arc, in addition to promoting production with technology to obtain processed by-products based on the vocation of the territories and the strengthening of the organization and participation of the actors involved in agro-productive communities and unions.
