Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check that their submission meets all the items shown below. Submissions that do not comply with the following guidelines will be returned to the authors:
  • The submission has not been previously published nor submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the editor).
  • The submission file must be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs will be provided for references.
  • The text must have single spacing; 12-point font size; italics will be used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables must be placed in the appropriate places in the text, instead of at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements summarized in the Author Guidelines.
  • If the research involves the participation of vulnerable populations and/or animals, ACVENISPROH requires the submission of approval from an institutional Ethics Committee or equivalent body in accordance with the institutional ethical oversight policy.
  • Only the article accepted for publication must pay the APC.

Author Guidelines

Publishing Standards

  1. The standards for publishing in Prohominum are APA 7.0 Standards.
  2. All works carried out by national or foreign researchers may be published, as long as they meet the required scientific quality criteria.
  3. Articles related to completed research, bibliographic reviews, reports on technological development, scientific essays, proposals for educational models and innovations, products of undergraduate and doctoral theses, promotion works or institutional projects will be included. The submitted works must be a contribution to the field of social sciences.
  4. It is important to note that the submission of the work does not imply any commitment to publication. This will only be effective through the approval of the Arbitration Committee and the author or authors will be notified via email, which will include the publication certificate. Having a letter of acceptance of the article does not exempt the authors from making modifications to the article at the request of the Editorial Committee.
  5. The article will be evaluated according to criteria of: originality, social relevance, timeliness, contributions, scientific rigor, and compliance with the editorial standards established in this journal.
  6. The author(s) is/are recommended not to simultaneously submit the same article to other journals.
  7. If the Editorial Committee or the referees find that there is plagiarism, the article will be sent back to the author and they will be sanctioned for two years, during which time they will not be able to publish in this journal.
  8. You can submit the article in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word formats.
  9. Every article will be subjected to a rigorous arbitration process. The system selected by the Editorial Committee of ProHominum. Journal of Social and Human Sciences.
  10. In the double-blind system (Double–blind review) the referees do not know the identity or academic affiliation of the authors and the latter, in turn, do not know who is evaluating the article.
  11. The author, authors, or authors are suggested to omit direct references to other publications of their production. This may hinder the evaluation (Double–blind review).
  12. It is recommended that the number of co-authors of the article does not exceed 4. In case of a greater number of authors, proof of participation in a research project of a Higher Education Institution (HEI), Research Center, Research Networks, or related entities that endorse the number of proposed authors must be submitted.
  13. The original article must include in the header: the name of the author or authors, the academic degree achieved and the name of the institution to which they belong, email(s) and the ORCID code of each one, and the corresponding affiliation institution. You can include up to two (2) institutional affiliations.
  14. All authors must register in the journal's OJS.
  15. Please enter your ORCID ID registration number. It is mandatory. If you do not have one, you must register at: https://orcid.org/.
  16. If the author, or authors have more than one identifier (Research Gate, Academia, Google Scholar, or other) they must add it both in the OJS registration and in the data they send to the email (if they use that system to send their article).
  17. The article must be accompanied by a certificate addressed to the Editorial Committee, in which:
    • Authorization is given to ProHominum - Journal of Social and Human Sciences to publish the article and declare that it has not been sent to another publication.
    • The originality of the article and of being the intellectual author(s) is attested to.
    • The affiliation to the university, research institute, or educational center that has been declared in their identification is certified. If they are studying a master's or doctorate and are not part of the teaching staff of any university, their affiliation center is the university where they are studying. Likewise, they can include their work institution.
    • The Author/Authors declares that their publication is original and does not include borrowings from other works that may cause liability for the Editor, does not infringe the rights of third parties, and that their copyright to this publication is not limited. The Author/Authors will bear all expenses and pay any compensation that may result from the falsity of the following statement.

They agree to modify the article when there are substantial and formal observations. In the event that they do not wish to make the modification or incorporate the observations, they will not be able to send another manuscript to ProHominum - Journal of Social and Human Sciences for a period of no less than two years.

Form and Preparation of the Manuscript

In order to unify the way articles are presented in Prohominum, also considering that it is a scientific journal framed in the Social Sciences, the standard corresponds to that established by the American Psychological Association, APA standards. APA Standards

  • The length of the work can vary between a minimum of twelve (12) and a maximum of twenty (20) pages, including references.
  • The title of the articles must contain between 10 and 15 words (80 to 100 characters). It must be presented in Spanish and English. Try not to use abbreviations.
  • The charts, graphs, tables, images, and illustrations must be included in the article and with specification of their number, title, and source. The guide for the presentation of these elements is in the APA Standards WHICH YOU CAN DOWNLOAD HERE
  • All images and words they contain that appear in the graphics must be easily readable in the digital publication. In the event that this does not occur, the manuscript will be returned for correction of this aspect.
  • The articles must be adjusted and adapted to the following suggested scheme: Abstract; Introduction; Theoretical framework or bibliographic review; Methodology or procedures; Results, analysis, and interpretation; Discussion; Conclusions;
  • For the presentation of bibliographic reviews, dissertations, or theoretical production, the following suggested guidelines will be used: a) abstract (keywords), b) introduction, c) development, and d) references.
  • You should, as much as possible, avoid the use of footnotes. If necessary, place them at the end of the article.

Abstract

  • The abstract of the article must be written with a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 250 words. It must be accompanied by the version in Spanish and English. The author, or authors are asked not to use any electronic translator for the preparation of the abstracts in another language. It is recommended to hire a specialized translator.
  • The abstract will include the following elements: a) introduction; b) objectives or purposes; c) method; d) results; e) discussion; and f) conclusions. The keywords must be placed at the end of each of the abstracts. The number of keywords must be between 4 and 6, in both Spanish and English, and be presented at the end of the abstract separated by semicolons, in lowercase.
  • For the selection of keywords, you must use UNESCO Thesaurus.
  • All citations of book(s), author(s) or journals must be obligatorily referenced following the APA standards (see section 25). You must verify, in the case of digital publications, that there are no broken links or pages without information. In this case, the article will be returned to the author.

Digital Publications

Both digitized versions of printed periodicals and electronic publications (journals) are included. To register books extracted from electronic sources, the procedure will be as follows:

In the case of books. The order of presentation of the book data is very similar to the printed one, but some elements that refer to this digital version are added. These are described below: first, the author's full last name, only with the initial letter capitalized, initial of the first name. (date). Name of the book in italics. Name of the publishing entity or publishing house if the book has been published, city where it was published, if known. Retrieved from (electronic address where the book is hosted).

In the case of periodicals, the form of presentation is as follows: Initial of the full last name in capital letters, comma (,), initial of the first name. (date). Title of the article. Name of the publication in italics, volume(number), pages in case they exist. Retrieved from the electronic address where the journal is hosted. For the theoretical support of your research and proposals, we recommend using citations from articles indexed in recognized databases: Latindex, Scielo, Web of Science (WoS), DOAJ or Scopus.

  • The accepted work that has observations, according to the criteria of the referees, will be returned to its author so that they can make the pertinent corrections. Once reviewed by the author, it must be sent to the Editorial Board within a period of no more than 15 business days.
  • The unaccepted work will be returned to the author or authors with the corresponding observations. This cannot be arbitrated by this journal again.
  • It is understood that, once the article has been sent to ProHominum. Journal of Social and Human Sciences and the arbitration has begun, the author accepts this process and, consequently, undertakes to publish it only in this journal. Remember that under no circumstances should you submit the article simultaneously to more than one journal.
