Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze the factors that limit the entrepreneurial capacity of students at the Faculty of Administration and Tourism of the Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo (UNASAM). A quantitative, explanatory and cross-sectional research design was employed. A structured questionnaire was administered to a stratified random sample of 248 students drawn from a population of 698. Instrument reliability, assessed through Cronbach alpha, exceeded 0.90 for all constructs. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the effects of four exogenous factors, including socio cultural factors, entrepreneurial training, economic political environment and extracurricular experiences, on entrepreneurial capacity. The results indicate that socio cultural factors exert the strongest positive influence, followed by the economic political environment and extracurricular experiences. A lack of entrepreneurial training shows a significant negative effect. The model explains 32.6 percent of the variance in entrepreneurial capacity. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening entrepreneurial culture and improving formal training to enhance students’ entrepreneurial capacity.
