Introduction: The pre-analytical procedure in the clinical laboratory is a set of steps that start from the examination order made by the doctor, verification of the patient's identification, acceptance and rejection criteria. of the sample, collection of the sample, identification of the sample, safe transport, at an appropriate temperature and time. Then they enter for their preparation, and it ends when the analysis of the tests begins. Objectives: Determine compliance with the pre-analytical procedure that contributes to patient safety in the clinical laboratory. Method: This is an observational, quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study. Results: according to the results obtained from 112 samples, based on the observation sheet, it was possible to show that there have been samples with inadequate quality such as hemolyzed, coagulated and contaminated. And because they are in these conditions, they are rejected by the clinical laboratory, which leads to another sample being taken on the patient, causing discomfort, delay in the delivery of results and dissatisfaction. It is also evident that the hemolyzed samples are greater than the coagulated and contaminated ones. Conclusion: This study has helped to find out that quality standards are not being implemented in the sampling stations to avoid errors that have been causing discomfort in patients. Likewise, the sampling stations do not have equipment to help preserve the samples and traceability of their analyzes.
