Abstract

Introduction: Prehospital Care (APH) is one of the fundamental pillars of the Medical Emergency Systems that tries to provide the best assistance, in the shortest time and at the lowest cost. For that, it requires main components such as human resources and physical resources. Objective: To determine if the professional skills of the staff of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) of the City of Guayaquil respond to the Prehospital Care Service in accordance with the legal recruitment profiles. Materials and methods: The research has a quantitative approach, an observational, prospective and cross-sectional design. The type of study is descriptive; thanks to the fact that it allowed collecting information and measuring the variable studied individually or in groups. The population of this study was made up of professionals with a position as paramedics from the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute of the City of Guayaquil, which are a total of 32 professionals. Results: Once the data was obtained, it was reflected that 56.3 % of professionals are female. Regarding the title of professionals registered in the Senescyt, only 56.3% have it incompletely. 56.3% of the professionals have the position of paramedic 1. 81.3% fulfill their time of experience in the equivalent job. In securing the scene, 46.9% meet the requirements. The procedures in the IESS Prehospital care is one of the most important points in this study, since it was identified that 65.6% partially comply with this care procedure. Conclusion: In the review of the competencies, we deduce that not all the personnel were hired according to the hiring profile issued by the MDT. It was possible to observe a clear difference between the recruitment profiles between paramedic 1 to paramedic 5, which have different types of relevance, which shows us that there is a lack of training at all levels.
