Abstract

Introduction: Ancestral medicine over the years has been acquiring greater value and acceptance by the population, this is due to how impressive it has evolved and acquired knowledge in various fields based on theories, beliefs and experiences of different cultures. Objective: To analyze the application of ancestral medicine as an alternative in the event of a health change. Materials and methods: A study with an approach cross-sectional qualitative. The population was 20 people over 50 years of age They were initially located by Mr. Juan Moyolema, a well-known resident of the community. The necessary information was collected through interviews with open questions. and semi-structured previously elaborated that respond to the proposed objectives. Results: There are several factors that predominate when choosing medicine ancestral to treat any type of ailment, including economic, social and cultural. Conclusion: the application of traditional medicine to treat health disorders is still latent, due to the knowledge possessed by the vast majority of people over 50 years, on the nutrients and uses that can be given to some plants. Knowledge that has transcended from generation to generation. Traditional medicine is usually applied to treat pain mild, such as headache, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, among others.
