Abstract

Introduction: Low back pain is a most frequent musculoskeletal pathology in people
over 65 years of age, the second cause of medical consultations in first level, fifth in
hospital admissions and third in lumbar spine surgery that causes disability and limitation
of daily activities. Objective: To validate a research instrument in order to obtain the
necessary data for the design of a Recovery, Prevention and Rehabilitation Plan and the
search for strategies to reduce cases of low back pain, taking into account that it affects
the health of the population. Materials and methods: The method used was a quasiexperimental design with two phases, both with transversal cuts and both descriptive and
analytical analysis. The instrument was submitted for consideration by experts in the
field, with the participation of 3 PhDs and 2 specialists in the field, and from there, to
determine the degree of relevance, validity and reliability, applying the Delphi method
that allows determining the coefficient of competence in form and content. Results:
Based on this information, the instrument was validated and measured with a scale of 100
to 90 excellent, 89 to 70 slight changes will be made, less than 69 to change the question.
Conclusion: The instrument is reliable and valid for measuring the influence of low back
pain on the quality of life of patients.
