Biliary adenocarcinoma in a patient cholecystectomized for Mirizzi syndrome. About a case

Introduction: he Mirizzi Syndrome it’s a complication of cholelithiasis. The bile duct is obstructed by a gallstone and it is associated with a cholestasis syndrome, fistula and malignancy because of the chronic inflammation. Preoperative diagnosis is a challenge for the physician. Objetives: Analise a case report of adenocarcinoma bile duct of a patient with Mirizzi Syndrome. Methods: case report. We showed a female case with 64 years old that was admitted with abdominal pain and jaundice. Results: at the beginning, cholelithiasis was the most likely diagnosis, however laboratory findings and images approach the diagnosis to a Mirizzi’s Syndrome, before surgery; pathology result came out with the diagnosis of bile adenocarcinoma. Conclusion: The Mirizzi Syndrome is a risk factor for adenocarcinoma, as a result it is important to achieve an early and correct diagnosis.
