Abstract

Introduction: Aging is a universal, continuous and irreversible process in which there is a progressive loss of adaptation capacity. Older adults, who present a progressive wear and tear in their capacity and physical functions, become more vulnerable to age-related illnesses and conditions that can lead to fragility and dependency. Objective: Validate the quantitative and qualitative instruments of the factors that affect the care of the elderly. Materials and methods: This research is of a mixed type: quantitative and qualitative, cross-sectional, analytical descriptive, exploratory and correlational. The techniques and instruments are observation, survey and an open interview. For its validation, an expert judgment was carried out, in which a pilot test was used, for both instruments, 16 older adults who live in the Cerro del Carmen community participated. Results: The quantitative validation was used Cronbach's alpha with a reliability of 0.8542, in the Validation of the Instrument an average reliability of 90 is obtained. In the qualitative instrument an average of (AMC1) of 92 was obtained for each factor; (AMC2) of 98, (AMC3) of 95; and an average reliability score of 95, equivalent to very reliable. Conclusion: The instrument is suitable to apply to the focus group of the elderly in the community of Cerro del Carmen.
