Abstract


Introduction: People suffering from renal failure have as a main risk factor the metabolic syndrome, which is a condition that consists of a set of diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and arteriosclerosis. This is due to the type of lifestyle and food that the population
has in their daily routine. Objective: To determine the Metabolic Syndrome incidence in Older Adults People with Chronic Renal Insufficiency in the Ciudadela Cristo de Consuelo, Milagro. Materials and Methods: One survey was apply to 70 the citadel older adults’ people inhabitants with renal insufficiency, where this disease factor subject is the metabolic syndrome. The methodology used for the study was deductive, analytical and synthetic. Results: A prevalence of 42 inhabitants was obtain, which represented 60% of those consulted. They presented metabolic syndrome diseases, and some of them have diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and arteriosclerosis. Conclusions: It was deduce that these people have a greater predisposition to have kidney failure. However, the metabolic syndrome direct relationship with kidney damage is unknown with truthfulness, although it had been demonstrate that patients with this syndrome have a significantly higher risk of presenting microalbuminuria and / or chronic renal damage, and the degree of risk is relate to metabolic syndrome number components.
