Abstract

Introduction: Telemedicine, as a subcomponent of eHealth, uses videoconferencing, mobile applications, and connected devices to offer teleconsultation, telemonitoring, and telecare. This modality gained momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating its potential to reconfigure the care of chronic non-communicable diseases. Objectives: To analyze the impact of telemedicine on the comprehensive management of chronic non-communicable diseases through a systematic review of the literature. Materials and Methods: PRISMA guidelines were followed to review articles from PubMed, Scielo, and ScienceDirect (2021-2025). After eliminating duplicates and applying inclusion/exclusion criteria, 25 studies were subjected to narrative analysis, emphasizing clinical, economic, and psychosocial efficacy. Results: Of 5,620 baseline records, 25 studies met criteria. Interventions included telemonitoring of blood glucose, blood pressure, lung function, and telecoaching. Reductions in HbA1c up to 2 percentage points, decreased combined risk of death or rehospitalization in heart failure, and improvements in FEV1, CAT, and therapeutic adherence were observed. In addition, savings in transportation costs and resource optimization were documented.
